Founded in1879 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny, France, Sacred Heart Catholic School is one of only two remaining Pre-k-12th grade Catholic schools in Arkansas. Elementary Teacher, 4-6 Grades

Job Goal:
The classroom teacher will endeavor to teach and educate students according to standards for the Diocese of Little Rock as promulgated by the Office of Catholic Schools or other accrediting body. Furthermore, the teacher will teach the adopted curriculum developed and implemented by Sacred Heart Catholic School working always to provide the richest educational experience possible. He or she will also strive to teach and educate students according to the educational needs, abilities and attainment potential of individual students entrusted to his/her care by Sacred Heart School.

Under the direction of the Learning Services Director, this position will work in a designated classroom where students can go for reinforcement, tutoring, and other assistance as determined through educational assessments and needs.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Follows and maintains knowledge of all Sacred Heart School policies and procedures.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons consistent to and aligned with school curricula.
  • Possess and deploy various instructional strategies in order to meet different learning styles as well as specific needs of students assigned to him or her.
  • Stay abreast of changes in standards, curriculum documents, resources, and trends in education.
  • Utilize and integrate appropriately student use of technology in the classroom.
  • Assess, record, and report the development, progress, attainment, and behavior of all students.
  • Embrace an attitude of being a continual learner, facilitator of learning, and a reflective practitioner.
  • Utilize effective classroom management techniques to provide a safe learning environment for all students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and/or guardians about student progress, behavior, or needs.
  • Be an active participant in collaborative planning, intervention, conferences, meetings, and assistance teams when appropriate.
  • Use a variety of assessment tools to assess and gauge student progress, identify student needs, and extend learning.
  • Maintain proper and correct records and all timelines according to school, diocese, state, and federal requirements in regard to student grades, attendance, and MAP progress if applicable.
  • Ensure fairness and impartiality in all matters relating to students.
  • Provide supervision for students at all times when students are assigned or entrusted to one's care.
  • Engage in professional development to strengthen personal practice.
  • Develop and maintain professional and collegial relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned.
