Sacred Heart Catholic School is excited to announce plans for the 2021 Bazaar.
Traditionally held the first weekend in June, the event is typically host to thousands of guests over two evenings. Last year, as pandemic lockdowns were in full force, the church and school asked families and businesses to support the first ever “Stay at Home” bazaar with donations, in spite of the fact that no actual event would take place.
This year, the committee set out to meet several goals: ensure that the school receives the financial support necessary, as 11% of the school’s budget is raised through the bazaar; support local businesses who support the school and have been impacted by the pandemic; and provide a fun and safe event for those who wish to attend a Bazaar.
This year’s event will feature many of the elements of the event, as well as some new activities, outside and socially distanced in the gym. Bazaar weekend will kick off Friday, June 4th, with a burger lunch fundraiser on the school parking lot from 11am-1pm. The $9 lunch includes a Terry Resecker burger with all the trimmings, chips, cookie, and a drink. Group orders can be delivered at no charge – call 501.354.8113 to sign up by Friday, May 28, 2021. Walk ups welcome if any burgers are still available.
Friday evening the bazaar will open from 5-8pm. Local families will be cooking and serving up an authentic street taco dinner box for just $10. Guests are welcome to dine on outdoor picnic tables, peruse the silent auction and sign up for prizes, enjoy bingo for cash prizes, pull tabs, and other games for all ages.
The event will open back up Saturday night at 5pm, with the same games and activities. Mass will be held at 4pm and Sacred Heart spaghetti dinners will be available for pick up from 4-7pm. Tables will once again be available both indoors and outside for those who wish to dine on-site. The evening will conclude at 9pm with the raffle drawing.
The “Give Back” raffle was created as a way to express our appreciation and support for our local businesses during a most difficult year. This year’s Grand Prize is a 2021 Ford Ranger, purchased from Magie Ford, and the 2nd prize is a XRX/R Trailmaster Go Kart, purchased from and sponsored in part by Haynes Ace Hardware. The “Shop Local” and “Dine Local” packages – each valued between $800-$900 - boast $50-$100 gifts cards purchased from local restaurants and retailers in Conway County. “We sincerely appreciate our sponsors and donors who helped underwrite these amazing raffle prizes,” said Development Director Alisha Koonce.
“We hope that this focus on our local businesses will help drive traffic into these establishments and encourage our friends and families to support the people who are here every day building up our community,” said principal Buddy Greeson. “When you buy a raffle ticket, you are helping Sacred Heart and a local business.”
Although the bazaar will not be a full-scale event, Sacred Heart encourages the community to come out for a great weekend of family fun, all while supporting a great cause in a safe and socially distanced atmosphere . The school sincerely appreciates and values all those who make the bazaar possible and successful each year. Donations are gratefully accepted; information and raffle ticket order forms are available at www.sacredheartmorrilton.org.
